The historic market town of Barnard Castle is just 10 miles away provides a variety of well stocked interesting local shops and numerous quaint alley-ways to explore along with other attractions including the Castle, Bowes Museum and scenic riverside walks.    Richmond (with its famous castle and museums), Swaledale and Wensleydale are also a short scenic 30 minute drive away.

This northerly dale provides easy access to the three national parks of the Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, Yorkshire Moors and the coast, there is also easy direct access to Cumbria and the Lake District.

Middleton sits on the banks of the winding river Tees, the centre being a mere 5 minutes (if you walk slow) from the Old Granary.  There are number of public houses, restaurants, shops, cafes, a well stocked supermarket and a helpful tourist information centre.

Nearby you will find a wide variety of walks, with Englands's largest waterfall, the magnificent 'High Force' just 5 miles away, a sight not to be missed.  Fishing is also a popular pass-time, with the Tees passing through Middleton and providing plenty of fishing opportunities, along with additional fishing spots on the nearby reserviors.  

The area also has a surprising number of castles and cathedrals, from the historic ruins of Barnard Castle to the splendour of Raby Castle and gardens and Durham Cathedral.

Other visitor attractions within a short drive include the impressive Bowes Museum, Eggleston Hall and gardens, Hamsterley Forest Drive and lead mining museums (Killhope) to name just a few.

For those venturing a little further, Beamish Open-air Museum provides a full days outing for all the family, less than an hours drive away, as is Hadrian's Wall and the numerous Roman fort sites.

Accommodation

A communal staircase serves 5 of the apartments accessing number 6 on the second floor of the Old Granary.  The accommodation comprises of two bedrooms, large bathroom with shower over bath, spacious lounge with separate kitchen and utility cupboard, with washing machine and tumble dryer.  All of which, except the kitchen, are off a central hall.

The large lounge diner has TV/DVD/CD and hi-fi, 3 piece suite, dining table and chairs, this leads to the very well appointed fully fitted breakfast kitchen, providing oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and more.  It even has great views whilst you do the washing up!

The first bedroom is a standard double bedded room, the second a spacious family room with double bed and full sized bunks.  Both bedrooms are furnished with matching pine wardrobes, chest of draws and bedside cabinets.

Electric storage heaters are fitted throughout with all electric included in the rental.

Private car parking is provided for 1 car in the forecourt, with plenty of nearby quiet street parking for additional vehicles.
